Thread: Motive First Steer: Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster

  1. 08-06-2007 03:52 AM #1

I don't follow Navajo or Huichol religious practices, and I've never been the thirsty, old-time cowboy seeking nourishment from the wrong cactus. And as much as I enjoy the late writer's work, I'm no Hunter S. Thompson. Thus, I've never wandered the desert southwest on a peyote-induced journey of euphoria and self-enlightenment toward "the heart of the American dream," as Thompson did in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. But in car culture, Italian sports cars — unattainable or even alien to the general public — and packing extreme potency in a stunningly beautiful package - seem to contain some psychotropic qualities similar to those of the Divine Cactus. And Lamborghinis have been at the heart of my dreams since I first pinned a Countach poster up on my bedroom wall. Maybe it's just the blazing sun and my lack of hydration as I'm cruising topless down Highway 15, but the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Roadster has put me in an altered state of consciousness...

    New desktop. Thanks!

I also really like the shot with the reflection of the car in the troopers sunglasses.

    Wes....but do me a favor??

The next time you or the Motive Staff come to Vegas, PM me or ANY of the Vegas crew....because there is so MUCH more to Vegas than the Strip or the Casinos, or the Meat Shops/Clubs.

Vegas is a town I have called home since 1971; and I know it well. I have seen it morph from "Sin City" of the Rat Pack to a "Family Destination", to a 5-star eating restaurant deluge, to a Night Clubbers' wet dream.

Through all of the above transition and changes, Vegas has been my and now nearly 1.5 Million other peoples "home". It's a place where my wife and I are raising our 2 daughters, and counteless others enjoy FAR MORE than the "glitz and glamour" of the Night-scene.

If you ever want to see the "real" Vegas, and photog your autos in what locals love and embrace, let me know.

PS - My sister is a judge here, so next time you get yourself into trouble, I can get you a "get out of Jail" card.

I'm gonna wear a Stu disguise and show up to the VMG headquarters bright and early one day so Jamie accidentally takes me on the next trip.

Great read, great pics, great video

Every time I read "First Steer", the first thought that comes to mind is the 'Steers and Queers' expression.

I'd love to write for an automotive rag

Probably a hard business to crack and I bet the pay's not so hot, but wow. Just to get to drive some of those beauties, even if it is just for a day....

This sort of thing might just what every mag needs. The local touch for each story. Sure many readers here won't know everyone mentioned in each story but many of us will and it will make everything that much more personal.

I love the use of the word 'copious'. Such a cool word copious is.
