It's a known fact that Jaguar cares very much about the new XF. In a new press release, the company states, "The new XF is a milestone for Jaguar. In every respect it signals the future of the marque – and yet it remains true to the essence of what has always made great Jaguars the cars they are," showing that company certainly sees this car as a make-it-or-break-it situation.

The car is certainly a break from the stuck-in-the-past Jags of recent decades--it hasn't strayed far from last winter's C-XF concept, and evokes some Aston Martin design ques at the rear. This is no traditional British three-box. Inside, the design moves to the future as well, despite boasting as much real wood as the Jaguar Mk II of the 1960s. Actually, it uses more trees than anything since. But there's also the industry's first rotary-style gear selector, which controls a transmission that is claimed to shift even quicker than the ultra-quick XK's gearbox.

Engines for the XF will be sourced from that car, too, in the form of a base (for the U.S.) 300-hp, 4.2-liter V-8 and a supercharged version of that same engine, boasting 420 horses. A 500-hp super-XF is also rumored to come later. The first cars will go on sale in March of 2008, although the U.S. launch has not yet been announced.

It's beautiful. I hope it contributes to bringing Jaguar the good fortune they deserve.

i feel that the itnerior is nice but doesnt fit the exterior at all; nor does it have any british style cues imo

I'm kind of iffy on the interior.

Its doesn't look bad, but its not partuclarly inviting considering how much this car will cost. I would have though they could have at least matched the current class of car, if not beating them (A6, RL, etc...)

I think it's the best looking Jaguar in a long time. Even saying that though, it's not as attractive as I thought it would be. I'm not sure why. I think the nose needs to be just a bit longer or something. Anyway, I hope this helps Jaguar get back on track. Their next step needs to be a completely redesigned XJ series, with minimal influence from the current (30+ year?) design, and they need to update their technology to compete with BMW and Mercedes.

Rear end is very Aston like
Side profile is very G35 like
Front end is very Kia like

Front is ugly, I do like the rear end though......

Yuck. They were trying too hard. For Jaguar, I guess it's either produce something that looks almost exactly like last year's model, or something derivative of everyone else. I'm seeing Hyundai, Subaru, Buick, Lexus, and all sorts of other stuff that shouldn't be combined with one another.

I love everything but the wheels. Here's hoping this is the beginning of a turn-around for the kitty.

This is ok. Not great. If it were a Hyundai, it'd still just be ok.

Is that the new Tiburon Sedan?

  11. 08-27-2007 03:59 PM #11
It looks nice, but it lost so much of the concept by reducing the track and wheelbase. The fender curves were completely lost and it is the contours of the skin that define the best of Jaguar.

How counterintuitive can they be with that rotary gear shift selector. Controls for selecting the direction of the automobile should relate to the direction of the vehicle. Why not take it further and replace the steering wheel with a stick?

So what happens when I shift into 2nd or 4th in my car? Am I expecting it to slam backwards?

Everyone's an armchair critique! Luckily for Jaguar, 99.9% of the people buying them will have never heard of the car lounge...

The car is certainly growing on me, although I would have trouble buying one with there being so many excellent cars out there for the same or less money.

    You speak the truth.

One grave concern that I have for Jaguar is their quality and reliability. The XF has an incredible array of new technology, but the S-Type was more known for its unreliable electricals than anything else. I hope for Jaguar's sake the XF didn't inherit this again.

That looks much, much better than the one speeding side pic of it that was posted the other day next to the concept.

    I like it!

    Cheers, J

New XK is a wanna be Aston. Not that that's a bad thing.

This is a wanna-be Lexus. That is a bad thing.

My opinion only....I'm sure many will disagree....

Lol people here think everything Jaguar makes looks like the Taurus. I mean seriously. From the last generation S-Type to the new XK everything apparently looks just like a Taurus.

Looks good. It will probably look even better in person.

It's funny to me how many "it looks like [insert Ford Brand-X here]" comments we're getting. Anyone see anything special? Like they're all made by FORD?

    Cheers, J

The more I look at this car the more I like it, actually no, I love it.
There is something about it, I had the same reaction with the XK, meh > okay > nice > gorgeous > love. Hehe

I think Jagwaaaar are really on the up and I hope they hit a home run. If I was in the market I would definitely hit it.

That is exactly what Callum said would happen with this car.
    Thank you BasedGod!

I think the interior looks much nicer than the exterior. The exterior looks very Buick IMO but I'm sure in the pics do not do it justice.

  27. 08-27-2007 07:22 PM #27
I would also like to see it in other colors, could see it looking much nicer in white (for example).

I like this new car. I'm sure it looks a lot better in person. The 5 series isn't steller and the E-class is nice but getting boring and the A6 is nice as well but this is nicer. lol.

  33. 08-27-2007 08:11 PM #33
It looks great, I just hope it will sell to keep Jaguar afloat. I look forward to the day where Jaguar has a competitive lineup. Choice is always good.

The Super-XF should look amazing considering the base XF already looks great.

What's most amusing are the typical bellyachers, you know the ones that own cars that are well ummm insipid.
