maybe cuz some technologies don't like to be copied? (ahem china or south korea?)

For some reason I always seem to have a hard time finding these.I really, really, REALLY want to see pics of people building my car. I think it would be very cool. I try Google images but it seems to be hard to find pics of actual modern assembly lines, at least the ones I'm looking for (Honda Suzuka plant)
I'm guessing they are nervous about people spying/competitors taking photos all over the plant?

I just did a google image search (large images)
Quote » Results 1 - 20 of about 43,400 for assembly line Ya with that many large photos I can see how you would struggle to find some images....

Pop over to the Phaeton section of VWVortex and click 'A Photo Tour of the Transparent Factory in Dresden'. For those that have not seen it this assembly facility must rank as number one in the world.

I'm guessing they are nervous about people spying/competitors taking photos all over the plant?Umm... yah pretty much, even tho most competitors are basically at the same technology level and go about doing things very similarly. Where I work I had a sign an agreement that I would never take pictures inside the facility or leak information regarding new, upcoming projects. I do get to see finalized automotive lighting designs up to 1-1.5 years before the vehicle ever becomes on sale. They are even more strict since we have an on-site R&D department.
I've wanted to take pictures and basically do a "how it's made" post on automobile headlamps... but who knows who reads forums... not hard to put two and two together and have me in the bosses office getting fired over intellectual property leakage.

Then again, it seems like ANYBODY who works in the auto industry has to sign an NDA.

Well... specifically, I wanted to see HONDA FIT's being built in the Suzuka plant. Thanks for all the pics though. I saw some factory pics, plenty of them, but when I got specific in the search criteria I couldn't find what I was looking for.

Pictures from the abandoned MG Rover factory in Longbridge, UK. Impressive how the factory was shut down like that.

Modified by Rowayton at 6:00 AM 7-10-2008No offense, but #1 in what? Excess arrgoance? Wasted MFG dollars/euros? Ridiculous usage of space?
The only #1 ranking it has is what it was meant for - Building a luxury image as fast as possible for a car no one asked for.

As if they just left everything there - who owns that plant? Why isn't anything being done?

Wow... That is creepy and sad and wonderous all at the same time. Thanks for that. Very interesting. So strange how the cars are just left there like that in mid-assembly. Eerie...
