I agree completely. There are a SUBSTANTIAL number of TCLers, certainly enough to populate TCL regional forums. And I'm sure many users who are more oriented towards brand-specific events would also be interested in general car events and GTGs.

I think there's quite a few of us in there that only frequent the Car Lounge areas and are either not interested in brand specific GTG's or looking to join up with others. It would also provide a place to discuss regional topics, and events.

I really want to get a thread going for all the track days and auto crosses going.

The PNW regional forum I go to is not brand-specific. Although there are many VWs there...It's not all about VWs, alot is, as you said, talking about other cars or regional issues. The reason you won't find many non-VAG cars is due to the fact it's located on the VWvortex server.

All for it.There are a ton of GTG's of other makes/models that I'd like to attend, but I can check that many NorCal boards to stay on top of them.

Voted YES.I had to post a regional thread in TCL itself, because it was TCL-specific, not Vortex related... and got a bunch of "YOU GONNA GET RAPED" pics from people NOT in that region.

Vote on this ish damnit!! I need to be up to date on trackdays and other happenings in my area!! And I cant be visiting 10 different forums for their nor cal sections!!

Now that I think about it, RSS could accomplish my complaints.

i voted yes. I think it would be a great idea. Right now I log in through the motive mag section and cant access the VW regional forums. The car lounge being its own entity should have its own regional section since there are alot for us who only come here for the carlounge.
#10
This would be awesome to meet TCL people around our area.EDIT: Woah! WEIRD that I would say that since you're from Omaha! just realized after scrolling back up!
#11
I know for a fact that here in Mexico City there are at least 5 different TCL'ers that have wanted to get together. I would hate to make a thread and get it locked. .
#12
i'm curious, is the car lounge independent of vwvortex? i see so many non-vw owners on a vw website asking for non-vw stuff.... (not saying this request is non-vw), but.... i'm either missing something, or..... i think i'm missing something.

The sister sites on this system share the TCL as the common ground. (sans swedespeed)

Any update on this? I'm all for a non-brand specific regional/chat forum. It would save TCL from being clogged up by discussions of events that are completely irrelevant to users that live far away. What do I care about people going to a show in LA? What do California users care if we're getting people together to go to Lime Rock?

Well, It's gotta get 200 votes according to the rules, and it's stalled out at 73.I would post it as a topic in the car-lounge, but it's not appropriate for that area, and doesn't get enough views over here. So I guess if you want it, promote it in your signature, and tell others to do the same.
Thanks for the support!

how about a carlounge OT too? lol
there would be far less thread jacking
an stupidity in the carlounge if we got
an OT forum.

I'm all for it. The VWVortex regional forums are packed full of VW specific meets (obviously), and I'd love to see more general/non-brand specific GTGs.![]()

an OT forum. They tried that a long time ago (before I even got here) and it was total chaos from what everyone says, so it was closed. Any mod that I've ever seen talk about it says there's no chance it'll happen again.
Personally, I'd like to see an OT forum too, though...

So it's been a year now, and we've racked up 80 votes. When do us TCL folk get a regional section?

The last thing the vortex needs is more forums, searching is already enough of a PITA with 10^2 drop down menu.

It's interesting -- I used to live in Phoenix and would frequent the SW regional forum and found that it included a lot of general regional/automotive content. Now that I've moved to Southern CA I find that the SoCal forum is pretty much just for discussing the numerous weekly (yes, weekly) VW GTGs.While I don't have a problem with that (even if 20 weekly GTGs in a single region seems a bit much...), I'd be interested in a regional general automotive forum for all the cool car stuff that I'm sure is going on around here but I just don't know about yet.
Which is all a really long way of saying that I've seen the light and I've added my vote for the cause

More people need to add this to their sig to spread the word. There's definitely an interest here, I don't think this is dead.

I am against it. I like posting alongside TCL members from all over the continent.
