Browsing the local Craigslist cheapies [dreaming, as always .. already have a dead van I've never driven thnx to the CL] I came across this:
apparently the Corvair Rampside
I had no idea these existed. An archived Car Lounge thread mentioned it in conjunction with this Econoline:
How freakin cool![]()
All I knew of was the VWs ..
I love old vans .. but these rarities are even cooler .. what else am I missing?

Wow, that is a cool car! Never heard of it.
Speaking of Dodge A100: Here is the only one I have ever seen (don't forget I'm on the other side of the pond):

Super cool car; I really like the body style; but then again, I also like the Corvair and the Econovan in the first post

Anglias were sold here; not sure about the van, though. The Anglia/Prefect was replaced by the Cortina.

I wanted to say that I never saw an Anglia Wagon/Delivery Van up to now, I know the Anglia because the main character in our English Books drove one! IIRC he was called Arthur

Some of this might get censored...
Instances of "*******" (Word describing an opening of donkey variety - had to edit that AGAIN) were changed to "kneebiter," instances of "****" (S word) were changed to "swut," but that's not what made up for it.
In the UK book, the Rory was for the Most Gratuitous Use of the Word "****" (F word) in a Serious Screenplay.
IIRC, the F word was used in the US version (I'll have to check my copy) - but the Rory in the US version was for the Most Gratuitous Use of the Word "Belgium" in a Serious Screenplay. (Which was what was used in the original UK radio show, due to obvious reasons relating to broadcasting that on public radio.) Of course, that whole section was based on the radio show - it would've been a big deal to Arthur Dent, who was from Earth, that Belgium was one of the most offensive words, period, but the F word is another story - so it differs greatly from the UK book.
Censorship - making books FUNNIER sometimes.

Belgium was funnier than f*** anyway, IMO. Speaking of which, Full-size van + Truck = ****?![]()

Captain Yar: I think that's the only instance, ever of the censored version of a book being better than the non-censored version, and not because of humorously poor-quality censorship - but rather because the censorship was done extremely well, and because of that section being rewritten so it fit - so well that it's actually not believable that the bit about Belgium wasn't originally used, unless you had read the UK version beforehand.

They'd be worth a pretty penny on eBay.

Do you enjoy old cars and long-winded stories about them? If your answer is "yes", then you might enjoy my blogpage. Try it here: http://vwlarry.blogspot.com . Leave a comment, too; I love feedback! Thanx for reading.

I bought that kit new in the store sometime in the early 90s. If I had known the parts were in the box to build it stock, (IIRC with a slant six) I would have bought two. Between having a job, kids and not making up my mind which version to build means it sits in the basement unbuilt to this day.

I always loved the cab-overs, be it a truck or a van. Ride in one with weak front shocks and you'd have a ball.

google-searching for 8V motor swap brought me back to my own old thread
After having some fun in an aircooled Vanagon last year I can now certainly attest to the above statement.
wish I'd kept my yard-full-o-Vanagons, but i love Golfs too much.
these rock but are h20cooled
Single-cabs seem to be making a huge comeback around here
not seeing anything rarer from this thread around though.
here's some more old-skool funkiness:

One thing I noticed while in Europe, was all the work trucks were van-based. You can get a Ford E450, but they're not used too often outside of ambulance duty.
I'll try and post a chronological order of Van-trucks by different manufacturers.
VW T1
VW T2
VW T3
VW T4
VW T5 4motion by Seikel
VW LT MK1
VW LT MKII
VW LT MKIII - aka Crafter
Iveco Daily 4x4
Renault Mascott
Ford Transit
Mercedes L206 D Before the T1
Mercedes T1 (early sprinter)
Mercedes Sprinter
Mercedes L406 (Early Vario)
Mercedes Vario
4x4 Vario Van.
