Thread: A 33k Civic?

  1. 10-06-2008 10:20 PM #1
    Yes, Canada has $33,000 Civics....

    The Acura CSX.

I thought Acura had all but officially canned this car. I thought there wasn't going to be an '09 version. But the guy at the dealership said that Acura has changed their minds, and now plans to keep the car around through 2010. Also, what have until now been the exclusively Type-S wheels, are now standard on all '09 CSXs across the board.

*Note the new TL style front grille for 2009*

Do they use Imperial gallons? 42 mpg seems a bit high.

You bet, and even when they do, they are completely higher than EPA ratings, I hate it.
The CSX is a nice car though, but the premium over the civic is quite absurd.

I somewhat like this car. It's essentially a 4-door Si with a nav system (which we can't get in our 4-door Si's here) and with HID's, LSD, etc.

They'll be a great used car buy in a few years.

Good lordy, Acura is putting that POS grill on everything

  7. 10-06-2008 10:27 PM #7
It's actually a really cool car with a great leather interior.

The only thing wrong is the price.

    A Civic SI sedan is 26 700$. The CSX Type S should be 30 000$ not 34 000$.

It's like a Civic SI but with navigation, full leather, HIDs and a better sound system.

If it sold in the USA it would cost about 25K, which isn't that terrible.

I like the black one much better than white, but wasn't the CSX a Shelby Dodge Shadow?? Anyhoo, I actually like it, does it have the same dash as the Civic though? I really don't like the Civics dash setup.

Acura would be stupid to stop selling these. People are buying loads of these things. I see just about as many of these as I do regular Civics. And that's a lot .

I definitely wouldn't get one... but clearly a lot of people think otherwise.

CTR wheels standard on all of them? Nice, maybe they won't be $1600 a set now.

The bird beak on the CSX doesn't look as bad as the TL.

What does the Civic cost in Canada when loaded up with the same options as the CSX?

The CSX Type S pictured is basically a previous gen. TSX but in a touch smaller package.

Was the previous gen. TSX available in Canada?

Yeah, I know it's a Civic. I was talking about the standard features like leather, bluetooth, climate control, navigation, HID, all standard on the TSX.

Never say to a CSX owner "nice Civic"...

There's nothing wrong with the Civic platform. It's a great car for what it is.

I would take a CSX Type S with LSD, tighter suspension, more engaging engine, 500 pound lighter curb weight over an Acura TSX any day.

If you get a chance to sit in the drivers seat of a CSX Type S, you'll see that it's a great place to be. The leather on the door panels is nicer than most of the stuff the Germans put on their entry level cars. (and then some)

The only problem with the CSX Type S is it's price is seriously ridiculous.

If only it was RWD......2900 pound, 200HP, LSD, great interior, navigation, HID, RWD: I would pay 33 000$ CAN for that.

What I want to know is when is the Fit-based Acura coming out in Canada?

    Acura FTX 1.5

Hahaha that would be awesome actually. Or am I crazy? I'd buy that before a Civic sedan.

Now what would people say if GM took a Cobalt and slapped a Cadillac grill on it and a $10k premium?

    Catera anyone?

  32. 10-07-2008 01:08 AM #32
33k for that car is just dumb. Nice car, but not that nice.

I like the white one, and IMO this is the only Acura badge to pull that nasty grille off and make it palatable. I love the leather, I would pick one up if it was offered in the states if the price was around $24K I think the trim & appointments are nicer than the Civic we get, also the Acura fixes what I don't like about our Civics the headlamps & tails.
