I'm going to swap this engine into Iceland and rescue them from their financial crisis by doing a sweet burnout on Greenland.

Yes, you read that right. Starting next fall, you'll be able to buy a supercharged LS9, the heart of a Corvette ZR1, and drop its 639 horses and 604 lb-ft of torque into your Miata, RX-7, BMW E30, or whatever else you can find that'll accept a Chevy V-8 (maybe you might even pick an old Chevrolet!). The kit comes fully dressed, including the ignition system, supercharger assembly, exhaust manifolds, and other parts. GM claims the only add-ons needed are an oil tank (the engine is dry sump), and external coolant tank for the charge cooler, and an ECU/wiring harness. Pricing hasn't been announced, but we're sure it won't be cheap.Press Release: http://www.motivemag.com/pub/n...shtml

I wonder if Mosler is going to start using this engine? Imagine what this would be like in a full downforce car that only weighs 2300lbs!

As for the motor.... wow wow wow...
I'd love to pick up an older Vette and drop this bad boy under the hood with some generous suspension and rear end upgrades to handle the extra gusto.

I wonder if that would fit in my Ford. With 4 drum brakes I think my life expectancy would drop to the "borrowed time" category![]()

Still a STEAL if you compare it to other manufacturers engines at that HP point....

Last night I was looking through a November 1980 Car & Driver magazine that was buried deep in some other stuff. Today I am reading this. Some of you guys have no idea how far we've come.

Are they going to offer clutch and gearbox that can accept all that power too ?

There are plenty of options for that on the aftermarket, but I'm sure you can buy a ZR1 clutch if you want something from GM.

I dunno... for the money involved in swapping it and whatnot, I think I'd rather just buy a CTS-V.

Much under. Heck, even Summit, not the cheapest place around, sells the LS7 crate for under $14k.

There's tons of them out there. The LS9 puts down about 550whp at the wheels which is about the same as your average 427ci stroker, maybe a bit more so it's nothing new power-wise.
