i wonder if just the paint that the pad touches will scrape off or if eventually the entire thing will just peel and flake off. i'd assume the latter. either way, this guy sucks.

I'm curious to know what the actual outcome would be. Glaze the pads with paint and need replacement? Smells like burning paint at every stop sign? No brakes and drive right into their own bay window?

Most paint will come off the rotor itself due to the pad but the pads will most likely be effed up due to the paint getting on them... interesting approach though.

It might be difficult stopping the first time but after that no worries.

With those wheels.... why would you even need to paint the brakes - you can't see F-all thru those turbine/turbo style wheels to begin with.
For a Corvette those look like kind of small brakes... I think the rears on my cars are about that size.

the issue is in your title. how can you let a "friend" do this? a friend of mine would most def be talking about this for a few days before actually following through providing plenty of time to intervene..... time to reevaluate things!![]()

You must not be friends with him anymore. Surely he makes other poor decisions, with greater consequences.

if it's high temp paint, it might put up a fight in the slots but will eventually come free. if it's not high temp paint, it'll melt right off after the first few hard stops.

i got that he failed by painting his rotor ... but skipping out on the calipers![]()

all kidding aside would it be possible to have colored rotors? i would imagine it would have to be done at the beginning when the alloy material was being created/melted. i have seen many colored metals (that weren't painted) so i know it is possible in some regards but not sure if any of these options could withstand the heat associated with rotors.

Anodizing.. or titanium.. which will turn colors when exposed to heat..

That paint not directly in contact with the pads should stick for a long time, if its high temp paint. People paint their brake drums quite frequently, and drums can get pretty hot too.
