So is saab really not using the griffin logo anymore? I remember a thread about that while back, I honestly thought it was just a joke..

  3. 07-22-2009 09:30 AM #3
I like. Too bad there are no more Griffin (sp?) logos though.

It was too early for SAAB to die. Thumbs up!

Looks pretty good overall. With that said, it *looks* like forward visibility will be great w/ that tall, upright windshield, but the rear visibility might be a bit of a nightmare. And I'd like to see the cabin in other colors. The black/charcoal grey interior looks completely lifeless.

Looks good but the front of the roofline doesn't seem to match the back. I'm looking forward to seeing better pictures though, from more angles.

looks good. id like to see one in person though
This car can be vicious, but in an amusing way, like a shark in a funny hat.

I really like it so far. The back is a bit bland, but in a good way.

This design allows me to continue not liking anything Saab makes.

  11. 07-22-2009 09:57 AM #11

I don't know why but it kind of reminds me of a Chevy?

Maybe it will look different on the road?

i think they have them on the center cap no? And thank goodness they got rid of those stupid badges that last 3months before they peal. From what I see, I like, I don't love the front end. I do love the wheels

  13. 07-22-2009 10:07 AM #13
It looks pleasant, bordering on forgettable. Now the real question is, will anyone but Saab loyalists care?

Check out the GTR-like windowline and trim

I like it! Looks like a nice step up from previous generation. I did not read the details of the SAAB/GM divorce. Will SAAB dealers still reside on GM lots, or will they be independent and therefore rare?

Isn't that a gryphon on the wheel caps?

    Rear 3/4 view looks awkward.

Which GM platform share is this?

Agreed. It would also be the most interesting thing on this car.

I retract my previous statement, it is clearly visible on the center caps.

    1) Looks pleasant enough, although I never cared too much for the really vertical windshield Saab thing. And that rake on the roof is... just not my thang.
    2) I bet the wagon form would look better. If they have a wagoon out by the time I get home, that'd be on my list of new cars to get without a doubt.
    3) Had they just done a HB, they'd be right on time for this "sportback" fashion trend starting.
    4) I hope GM steals away the engineers who design Saab seats. I think they are descendents of the Gods. I miss long highway cruising in our old 9-5's seats.
    5) Love the front fascia, but will really miss the Griffen logo, too.

What a mean looking motherf*cker! Finally, someone has had the courage to try a roofline, and profile in general that does not owe anything to the late 1990s Audi A4! There is not one line on this car that is derivative of anything from any other car company. Congrats Saab! Congrats GM, on the diversity in Epsilon II. This looks nothing like a Buick LaCrosse or Opel Insignia! Can't wait to see the Caddy version!

Nice but from these scans it doesn't appear to be anything special. I look forward to better pictures & reviews to prove me wrong though.

Looks like a sales success for Saab, I bet they'll sell 1000 of them.

  27. 07-22-2009 10:59 AM #27
The roof rake is a little odd, but other than that I think it's pretty damn hot. I actually really like the back end. Bummer to see the griffin depreciated, it was a cool and unique symbol. I really want to sit in that cockpit, it looks pretty retro with a lot of lines and deep portals for the gauges.
I had a sig but then Vortex eated it.

the twin turbo diesel AWD badge is more interesting.

I like it alot.....very cool rear end that is a real departure from previous 9-5's...and overall the car looks like nothing else for sale today, which truely is an engineering feat....

On paper I'm sure it's very good. There's just nothing about the looks that intrigue me or would make me want it over something else.

Too little, too late. The world has moved on past the Saab brand

I really like it but it doesn't scream "I'm probably gonna cost close to $50,000 car after AWD and options." Hope it's a more competitive price.

  34. 07-22-2009 11:18 AM #34

At first I thought some kind of Chevy but it's really more this

    Mazda 929?

I think the wagon will be the much better looking of the two

More shots from Autobild via SaabsUnited

I love it -- can't wait for the Aero version (350 hp AWD twin-turbo six).
