I need to buy a new car with little or no apr. There aren't many choices so here are the nominees:
Nissan Versa, Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent, Ford Focus.
It'll be very helpful if you guys can suggest any other cars in this category.
Vote away!

I loved the utility of the fit. My ex had one and there was lots of room to spread out a sleeping bag or two when traveling.

hmm so the Fit seems to be the best choice. thanks for the suggestions guys!

Golf? Cube?Honestly what I'd do is go around to all the dealers in your area and test drive as many cars in your price range as you can. Drive them in town and on the freeway. Make sure to play with the radio and heat/AC as well. Then make yourself a list of the top three or so cars you like, the prices, financing options, features, etc and take that home and do some research online. Checkout reviews on sites like edmunds.com, car and driver, google, etc. Then put all that together and make a decision (use a pros and cons list if you have to). This is how I've bought my last two cars and it's worked out quite well. I started the process THINKING I knew what I wanted, but after driving all those cars and doing some research I KNEW exactly what I wanted (which in both cases was different that what I thought I wanted).

Paying 0% at sticker isn't necessarily better than getting $2k off sticker and paying 5% interest. It's just a shell game. Look at the total amount you're going to pay for the car (Principle and Interest) over the course of the loan.
Conversely, yes a low interest rate can make a "more expensive" car more affordable than a "cheaper" one you're comparing it to. An $18k Civic at 1.9% is cheaper than a $17k Fit at 6.9% financed over 5 years. But there's more to it than just the interest rate.

Wait for the Fiesta to come out in 2-3 months. Why does it have to be small?Kia Souls are cheap..

This is what I am thinking as well.
No reason to buy a $18k Fit at 0% interest if a $12k Hyundai at 5% will fit your needs and end up costing less overall even after paying a higher interest rate.

I had my eyes on the Fiesta for a while now. Seems like a great car. I just need a fun gas-sipper

You can get 5% (ish) APR on used cars from most credit unions, which could broaden your horizons. Of course, if you just want a small car and want it to be new, then disregard. That said, I'd suggest Fiesta as well if you can wait. It looks like it's going to be great.

I don't get all the Fit love. It's slow, cramped and boring to look at. To me it seems overpriced for what you get. Keep in mind that I think $20,000 for a TDi Polo is a smoking good deal so my value to dollar ratio filter may or may not be broken.
#23
should be able to ge a good deal now on one of these.though usually overlooked, it is very competitive in this segment.

Or poney a little more, just a little and get and Impreza. Subaru is offering low APR and good lease deals on these. Plus it is much more car than the ones mentioned so far.

The Fit is a very attractive packaged small car.Its not really that slow.
Its not cramped from my experience being in a fat dude and sitting in both the front and back seats while the car was filled with me and two other fat dudes.
Boring to look at is an opinion that is yours, but not everyone shares. The Fit is also probably the small car with the most utility built in with the magic seats.

Oh I agree. I'm not biased as to why you think though. I have enjoyed every Honda product I've ever owned and that includes cars, bikes, mower.. etc. My bias is because I haven't had enough leg room or head room in a Honda since the 95-98 Civic Coupes. This includes the CUV's and all the cars. Ridgeline I fit into but.. I don't wanna fit in that thing.
I have this issue with nearly ALL Japanese and Asian cars.
SAAB, Volvo, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz and Volkswagens all seem to cater to the over 6" 300lb crowd where as the rest... don't.
Oh and American cars? Total crap shoot really. Some are great *Focus* and some are dissapointing *Tahoe*.

Tons of room.... 120+HP and a 6 speed... fun, cheap car after the removal of the OEM wheels.

Looks surprisingly good there.
6 sp? who knew.and the wheels only affected looks... the stock tires however are where most of the assy handling comes from.

The Hyundai Accent is out-selling all the other cars mentioned...including the Fit.....for good reasons.

The only one I'd really like to pick up (outside of a TDI Golf) is the SX-4 Sportback.

I bought an accent and took delivery on wednesday. It's a nice car, fun as hell to drive and not that slow. Sure it's a bit noisy and rough around the edges being an econobox but I'm very happy with it.I went with the hyundai because I didn't like the looks of the competition. The fit and versa look like small minivans and there's no way I'd buy an aveo/G3. I didn't check the focus though.

The Fit
My Brother has a white 07, loves it.
Plenty of space and handles great, beat out a 964 during autocrossVideo I found
#34
my biased vote went for the accent as that's what i drive.the hatch space is WAY bigger than the versa, so i didn't even bother test driving a versa as i knew it wouldn't work for me.
didn't check out the focus at all, so no comment.
and the fit was about the exact same price with ZERO content, ie 2 speaker radio & no options, whereas i got 6 speakers, a/c, power moonroof, heated power mirrors, "sport" suspension, 16" alloys wrapped in 205's, fog lights, and a few other things i'm forgetting for nearly the identical price to the fit.
i'm 62k kms into ownership of my 2007 hyundai accent sport and the only thing i have to get checked out under warranty sometime is my radio reception. it goes fuzzy under power lines, especially am stations. oh, and i replaced the tiny battery so i didn't have to keep jump starting it if i left the radio on for 10mins with the car off. otherwise it's been great! and thus, i recommend it.
