Mazda Furai-inspired design is a nice touch. I think its a minivan aimed at the under 45 crowd, and thus will be hated here.

I like the side swooshes, the front is ok, but I miss the old rear. I liked the big vertical taillights.

I like the interior, but there is WAY too much going on outside!

Mazda swings for the fence (fents?) and misses. It's too bad they have decided that all of their cars should have a goofy looking smiley face . I actually liked the previous generation 3 and 5, but it seems that in an effort to differentiate themselves Mazda's designers have gone a bit too far with these designs.

Not necessarily by age, but we have many grouchy people on here who hate anything that's not stock or slightly lowered. Hell, look at the response wagons get here for the sake of being wagons.

the exterior looks retarded. what is with those body lines? aer0dynamics y0

+1 for the Toyota Swagger Wagon

Yikes....stripes...fruit stripes gum. Thats terrible. The interior looks great, the exterior looks like it was heated up, and then dried while driving really fast...

wow..mazda went from being bang on in terms of styling to one of the ugliest.

Dang it anyway. I had been gently trying to nudge my fiancee towards one of these. Perfect for us and our little one and a heck of a lot cheaper than the Volvo wagons she has been eyeing up.

    -edit- nudge, not mudge.

Gross. Flame surfacing taken to an abysmal extreme.
At least the interior is decent.

  20. 02-27-2010 04:15 PM #20
On one hand, I could applaude Mazda for taking a risk and trying something new. On the other hand, it's just awful. They're trying way too hard. Makes me appreciate even more VW's efforts towards simplicity. More doesn't equal better.

Although I (obviously) haven't seen this in person, I quite like the side surfacing. It's distinctive and adds a bit of interest to what is otherwise a fairly traditional mini/microvan shape. I personally hope this type of detailing is added to the 6/3 as part of their refresh.

Based on the previous model, my wife just decided that she wanted to replace her first gen xB with a Mazda5. I was like, "That's great! But the new one is uhhhhh..."
