Indeed, that car is pretty much the automotive equivalent of having angry sex with Angelina Jolie while duck-hunting with rocket-launchers alongside Satan himself.
Is it going to be as "reliable" as the current WRC car? If they have not improved its reliability and performance, then they might as well kiss their WRC chances goodbye.

if they would just offer that body kit on a street version...
That would give it an even smaller shot at being purchased by yours truly. I'd typically stay away from making a similar comment, but this cars happens to be a model that I'd actually buy.
While the WRX looks a bit soft, the WRC version butches it up quite nicely. I like what this says about the upcoming STI version. Going to have to look closely at that car. Or a 135i. Don't know yet.

Subaru has been quoted as saying the new STI will be more subtle, lacking the fat fenders and big wings of the outgoing model. This not necessarily what the next STI will look like. Its simply a WRC concept.

GM once told us Oldsmobile wasn't going anywhere, so I'll take my chances and say this is sans the big rear wing is the next gen Sti

Ease of removal? Is that extra lug that much of a chore?
How about lack of strength? Every modern WRC car I have seen has 5 lugs. This is a concept. Count on the real car having 5.
lack of strength would be an issue if it were 4x100, but look at the splay on it. It's like 4x140. Most gravel setups I've seen on WRC and GrN cars are 4 lug
But only with a spoiler delete option. Spoilers and hatchbacks just don't go well together.
UGH ITS A ****IN RACE CAR

Sexxxxy!! Absolutely!! I can't wait to see this car battle it against Loeb and Gronholm!! When does it get introduced to the rally? It hasn't been very long since the updated STI was given to Peter either. I hope this can help turn his luck around.

I am actually salivating at the prospect of scrolling down into this thread
Second Reaction: Definitely more indicative of a WRC prototype than the actual STI - the flares are WRC only, given how they taper off towards the back (seems backwards since you'd usually want rally mudlfaps under there anyway, and thats where they'd be) - similar to the '04-07 WRC cars fender flare. The 4-lug wheels are definitely Subaru WRC spec - as the last few years have all been the same way.
I think there are some styling concepts that are really good here, and we'll see on the STI - the fender flares that taper down to the front bumper to wrap around, I think we'll see - although the the final flares themsleves will probably look somewhat different - the front bumper design as a whole I think we'll see.
I like the rear as well, although I'd like to see the rear fender flares more well integrated into the rear end design, instead of sticking out past the taillights. The rear looks better without the chrome strip running across it - the front doesn't look bad as-is.
For those saying that this is only the WRC bodywork... I disagree.
Here you can see the fender shape clearly, as well as the grille design, and they're identical to this concept. About the only things that stick out as different are the side skirts and the way the fender extends all the way down on this spy shot. The car in the spy shot also doesn't have the slit opening between the two grilles, and a less aggressive front lip design. The spy shot car is also 5-lug.
From the back:
We see the same rear bumper as the concept, and the same dual-outlet exhaust (I'd expect the WRC car to use a single-outlet exhaust for weight savings, and a different rear bumper design with either a more functional diffuser or a design for more ground clearance). Again, the biggest difference here is the smaller wing.
Unless this "WRC concept" is actually the Group N bodywork, I'd expect the WRC car to be a bit more radical... a lot of this car's parts still seem to be roadgoing items.
