So, if I'm viewing this correctly, Mazda said, "Hey, what if we mated the awkward front half of the Toyota Camry with the equally-awkward rear end of a Chrysler Sebring, then made them look kind of decent, and sold it as the new 6?"

Correct me if I'm wrong: this is just for Japan and Europe, with the US getting a much more boring, larger car based on the current platform.

The current Mazda 3, 5 and 6 are the same here as in the UK/Europe. I don't see why they would deviate from that for the new one.

x2.

I like the way it looks overall from the front and quarter shots, but the rear is "eh". It won't be the one we get here anyway, so what does it matter?

Because they love to do dumb things like that. Because the milquetoast US-spec widebody 626 was such an awesome seller.

just visually speaking the front end looks TL + solara, body looks like an IS, rear looks like a mix between avalon and sebring

looks better than the old 6 for sure, and I really hope that the interior room has improved

wagon by far is the better looker and looks more "mazda" if there is such a thing

Interestingly, it almost looks like they reskinned the Mondeo, rather than doing an all-new design on the Mondeo platform.

Look at the C-pillar design...

Interior isn't terribly exciting, but the exterior might be tops in the class, way ahead of Accord, Camry and the Jettarolla.

I agree...this thing is a STUNNER on the outside, especially compared to its immediate competition - I can't find a single angle that isn't pleasing to the eye

Interior's not too flash but very clean and a MAJOR upgrade

Nice looking, hopefully we'll get it here in Canada/US. It reminds me a bit of the new Accord in the back end, and the Euro Ford Mondeo for overall profile (the hatch). I would think it will do well here, and the hatch would do well in Canada.
Just my thoughts...

Why would Mazda sell two versions of the same car? The current Mazda 6 platform is being phased, and will now utilize the global EUCD platform.

Anyhow, hotness......digging the wagon. About as anti-wagon looking as a wagon can be.

Bye Bye Fusion, hellow Mazda 6

I really like the styling! The only thing that I can see that I don't like is how the taillight sticks out in this angle:

I think it would have been perfect if they would have just wrapped the light around with the curve of the top portion of that body line instead of making it stick out with the bottom part of that line

looks nice, but I bet that sheetmetal is just as thin and tinny feeling as in the current Mazda 6.
