The new Infiniti EX35 isn't exactly a vehicle you'd expect to carry a bevy of new features and such an important mission - after all, isn't it just a taller, more utilitarian version of the G35 sedan released last year? Mechanically, that's mostly true. But philosophically, the EX takes a new approach for an Infiniti. That's because Infinitis are "man" cars - rumbly, fast, mean, technological chunks of steel and testosterone. I mean, have you seen a QX56? Or heard a G coupe run through the first few gears? For this family of boys, it's time to light up the "It's a Girl!" cigars - the EX35 has been born.
looks a lot better than its cousin the Rouge... not saying that i would want to even consider buy either of them
Congrats.
Nice review. Looks to be a great new addition to the market.

I happen to really like it but the lack of a 6 speed is a bit of a downer although I'm guessing less then 1% would ever be sold with one even if it was offered. Nice job Infiniti this is more appealing to me then either the X3 or the RDX Mike
"Ferraris are serious cars for serious people who drive around wearing a serious expression. The Gallardo can do serious, too. It has Audi electrics and Audi engineering. But as you careen towards the next bend on a wave of extraordinary sound, half blinded by your own upholstery, you’ll be making the noise of a howler monkey and wishing you were naked" The one and only Jeremy Clarkson

If the EX is a cousin to the Rogue, then I guess you can call the Tiguan a cousin to the Q7.
You lost me at "girl". I exited the game at refined = feminine. It's one thing to note that refinement was employed to increase the demographic appeal, and another to make it sound like refinement is something lesser beings do. Fail.
Reliability is relative. Compared to a British roadster, all Volkswagens are reliable.

so by your rule of thumb, a brash car is the only car that appeals to you because its not smooth, is unfinished and rides like sticks and stones?
When mercedez refines their S class, is that feminine? Or when Cheve refines the vette's interior, is that feminine?
That said, I do see feminine appeal in the EX, but i find your logic...well, illogical. Also, if i were to buy this car, which i wont, i really wouldnt care what people said about it. Buy what you like because you like what you buy

If you and Atomicalex find my logic illigical, well, you'll have to take it up with Infiniti marketing. They've come right out and said that the EX is supposed to bring more women to the brand. In fact, I sat through an hour presentation saying exactly that. Then when I asked an engineer about the lack of an exhaust roar, he said the same thing. The whole "girl car" thing is not something I came up with just to be clever or snarky--that's straight from the automaker.
This and the RDX are both really compelling reasons to change my mind about SUVs. I'd probably go for a 6-speed RWD EX, or 6-speed RDX if they were offered at all.

I chatted with the head EX engineer at a rest stop along our drive route. They wanted to get the EX out as a refined, smooth, easy-to-drive vehicle to help bring new buyers to Infiniti--more women, as I mentioned in the article. He hinted that there's probably another EX coming in the near future with a 6-speed manual. He wouldn't say much more, but power could possibly come from the G coupe's 3.7-liter, and it would probably have a lower ride height, bigger wheels, and louder exhaust. "An EX for you and me" he said, smiling.
I dont find your article to be at all wrong stu. I also know Infiniti want to attract more femal buyers. My comment is in regards to the other poster saying "I exited the game at refined = feminine"
Does the EX/Infiniti want more femal customers? yes. If you read my full post, you would see that I agreed to it having a feminie appeal. But my comment is just pointing out that he thinks being refinded = feminine. Hence, the examples I wrote above
