oh man, Subaru is screwed! That car is going to out sell and out pace WRX sales right quick. Cant wait to see the price point its set at and go test drive one.
The previous ralliart was little more than a body kit and wheels, right?!
This one looks nice... show me a wagon version of it and I'd be very interested.
The last Ralliart had performance upgrades too... not sure what specifically, but it was a little quicker than the regular one.
The OZ Rally was just a body kit though... lots of ppl get them confused.
"Human identity is no longer defined by what one does, but by what one owns. But we've discovered that owning things and consuming things does not satisfy our longing for meaning. We've learned that piling up material goods cannot fill the emptiness of lives which have no confidence or purpose." - Jimmy Carter, 1978

Ah... gotcha... OZ Rally vs. Ralliart.
But say noez to the sportback, even though it looks great... give me a wagon that actually has some utility. Previous Lancer wagon was pretty ugly though.
I thought it was going to have a standard manual, but the article doesn't mention one. This car could kill the WRX sedan. It even has a front and rear LSD.
I would really dig this car with a 5MT and a hatchback (because it's more practical).

wow wow wow, great looking car and mitsu finally made a great performance model that should be very competitive against the gti, si, and mazdaspeed 3. The ralliart badge does look kinda old school.

I want to buy a dump truck, fill it with gravel, and then drive on the highway in front of other dump trucks and break their windshields.
The one advantage I see to the WRX over this is the wagon availability. I'd love to see what this looks like in a less dull color than terra cotta, not that it looks bad in the picture.

The previous-generation Ralliart had a 2.4L engine, as opposed to the 2.0L in the standard Lancer and OZ Rally. It looks like they put a 2.4 NA motor in the Lancer GTS for '09 (the '07-'08 Lancer GTS has a 2.0), so this brings the US Lancer lineup to four engines (2.0, 2.4, 2.0 turbo low-boost, 2.0 turbo high-boost).
As much as I like the TC-SST, I think it's a shame they didn't offer a manual option for this car. Still, if they had to pick just one, I think that's the right transmission for this "Evo lite."
I think people expecting an Evo will be disappointed by this car... but considering the good handling of the Lancer GTS, I bet it'll be a lot sharper than the new Corolla WRX.
