(Ferrari touting environmental initiatives may be the fourth horseman; who knows!)
Ferrari chose to emphasize its environmentally-friendly side by trotting out a F430 Spider that runs on E85 Ethanol biofuel. Drawing from the company's racing experience, where Formula 1 requires 5.75% biomass fuel and the FIA GT and ALMS both require 10% mixes, the F430 Spider Biofuel takes advantage of ethanol's higher octane rating to boost horsepower by ten and torque by 4%. All that while reducing C02 emissions by 5%. Converting the car to run on ethanol was easy; finding a Ferrari buyer that gives a damn, that will be difficult.
"No, honey, you don't look retarded at all! I'm soo happy you cut your hair like I told you to [the girls will love this one. For my next trick I'll have him jump off the Brooklyn Bridge]"
Looks like Grigio Ingrid, and yep it's a factory color. Not used very often though.
This is pretty cool though given the recent news release from Maranello indicating that their new direction will be smaller, lighter, more environmentally friendly cars. Given the current trend of vehicles getting bigger and heavier, I think it's pretty damn cool.
That pic is disturbing on so many levels. It's like someone put a Camry skin on an F430...
Is yous retarded?
They gained 10hp going to E85. It really only requires slightly larger fuel injectors and a few ECU tweeks to run on E85, so its not a huge feat of engineering.
Actually, since corn based ethanol consumes so much more oil energy to make than you actually get back from the ethanol, Ferrari has actually found a way to make their cars consume more oil!

Good show, Ferrari!
Compare the 5000 Ferrari's a year to the 10,000,000 trucks and SUV's a year, add in the fact the average Ferrari is only driven about 1000 miles a year and their fuel consumption is a non-issue in the big picture.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
