According to a recent survey conducted by Strategic Vision, African Americans are attracted to vehicles that are "Powerful and Classy" and "advocate success to family and friends" (e.g. Chrysler 300). Hispanic buyers, it says, look for "Aggressive and Powerful", but "Confident and Protective" vehicles (e.g. Kia Sedona). Lastly, the firm claims that Asian buyers look for the "complete" package and choose vehicles that are "Pleasant yet Powerful" (e.g. Acura MDX, Infiniti QX4).

I can see some truth in this. The 300C is very popular in my area, and my area isn't exactly the most affluent area. From what I've seen, nearly all drivers are male, and most are black or Mexican....or middle eastern...I can't tell sometimes, especially through tinted windows.

I remember working at a Chrysler Dealer when the 300 first came out and I thought it was some sort of racist comment when they would "call out" what the African-American Clientele would be interested in purchasing....until the end of the summer when it just turned out to be entirely accurate.

Despite the fact that I'm sure this thread will become a ****fest of ignorance I find their results to be rather telling. I wish they could have also broken it down by male and female, as I'm very sure 90% of black males don't want a "cute" car, but it was the third most important characteristic (Oddly enough I drive a car that many would consider & many have called "cute" ). I also find it curious that blacks like cars that are "bold" but then rank "aggressive" as the least wanted characteristic.
Personal evidence also supports our liking of the R-Class, but then I've very rarely met too many black people that really desire Honda's (goes against almost all of their top characteristics?) or Passat's (again that choice goes against the grain of their characteristics). It would also seem that African-Americans are much more likely to buy domestics than their Asian & Hispanic counterparts.
Anyways, I'd like to see this survey taken to even more extremes and done with a larger sample and including white's (European-Americans?).
