Hm.. I don't like it.. either re-do the entire car, or do nothing at all.
This looks like a current model SL wearing a mask.
I wish Merecedes would grow some big hair dangling participles and quit trying to compete with Honda and their 18 month product refresh cycle...
Bring back the days where a car would look the same for 10 years, with all the "updates" being made where it counts: inside. The drivetrain, the interior, the technology, etc...
Save the re-styling for a full verisoned releaase (left of the .decimal!)
The recent Mercedes refreshes have made the cars look much worse (SL, SLK, CLS, etc.).

uh thats a 55 motor.. the 65 is a twin turbo v12... not a supercharged v8... and i do like where mercedes is taking their new cars.. you have to change at some point and they beat to death the old body styles..

Hmm, surprisingly not as bad as I'd thought it would be. The hood and grill look fantastic, but the headlights are awkward. The rear could do without that funky-looking valance.
But I agree with a poster above--either redesign the entire car or do nothing at all.

I don't know what "days" you are referring to, but Mercedes has a history dating back at least to the 80s of doing mid-cycle face lifts. Ex: S-Class W126 updated in '86, W124 E-Class updated ~'92.
I excitedly clicked on the link hoping that finally the Italians had picked up on something before the rest of the world only to be horribly disappointed that that is not Italian.
