BMW will pull the wraps off a new 3-series coupe race car later today at the Chicago Auto Show. Judging by the bulging fenders and shape of the covered display car, it appears to be the rumored ALMS spec GT2 M3 rumored in the press and possibly linked to the Rahal Letterman racing team. That Bobby Rahal has been floating around the BMW stand this morning as well certainly makes us suspect that is the case. Full details will be published here following the BMW press conference later today and photos will be added to our 2008 Chicago Show Gallery.
So let me get this straight, this year GT2 will have: Ferrari F430, Porsche 911, M3, and Corvettes? Am i missing anything?
There's potential for Aston to run GT1 as well since they will be fielding cars in the European series. The question is whether anyone wants to back a team of those cars here in the States. To do so, they'll have to beat Corvette's factory team... no small feat. I hear there will be at least one GT1 Aston at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

Rahal did surprisingly well last year with the 911RSR, especially being their first season in the ALMS. I look forward to seeing what they'll do with the factory support from BMW.
Lou Gigliotti will be running two 'Vettes in GT2 this year IIRC.
Only one GT2 'Vette right now it seems due to $$$$. Which is a shame.
I'm going to take a wild guess we won't be seeing the car this year and it will be for 2009 and maybe late this year at PLM possibly. That's just a guess though on my part. If I'm wrong... awesome.
Please tell me that Tom Milner and PTG will be going back to BMW...
As far as I know they are going to be sticking with the Panoz this season. They will only be running one, unless they can get someone to pay for a ride in a second car. Pretty much like last year.
So did they unveil it yet? Any pics? Rahal did well in the GT3RSR in 2007 best of luck with BMW this year

Aston Martin is running GT1 and GT2 this year. Neither are official factory team cars. The just recently announced GT1 car is from Jim Bell, Bell Motorsports, Fla.
