Acura today announced pricing for the all-new 2009 TSX sports sedan that will go on sale at Acura dealerships nationwide on April 24th.
The completely redesigned TSX will be available in two versions: the generously appointed TSX and the fully-featured TSX with Technology Package. MSRP pricing starts at $28,960 and tops at $32,060. The 2009 TSX is available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or 5-speed automatic for no additional charge. Although the new TSX surpasses the previous generation in virtually every way, pricing for the 2009 model represents a modest 4.3 percent sales weighted average price increase. Destination and Handling for the 2009 TSX remains unchanged at $715.
"The all-new TSX is loaded with more technology, better performance, additional comfort and enhanced safety to make it one of the most desirable sedans in its class," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales. "We expect the dramatically improved 2009 model to set even more sales records than its predecessor."
With Acura's new "Keen Edge Dynamic" styling, a clean and efficient i-VTEC® DOHC 4-cylinder engine, a choice of automatic or manual transmission, and the driving character that is an Acura trademark, the 2009 TSX is anticipated increase sales as Acura's entry-level sports sedan. Major advances in handling, ride comfort, interior refinement, safety features, improved fuel economy, and lower emissions contribute to the new TSX's appeal.
In addition to its 3.0-inches greater width and 2.6-inches wider track, the 2009 TSX has a 1.3-inches longer wheelbase and 2.4 inches more overall length. Along with greater interior roominess, these dimensions combine with the TSX's new suspension to provide more agile handling and improved ride quality. Generous standard appointments include leather trim, power moonroof, HID headlights, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® and a high power audio system with XM® Radio along with USB port connectivity. The 2009 TSX enhances safety with its new Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) front body structure.
The TSX's Technology Package features a wide array of technology including the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition™, Zagat® restaurant information, and rearview camera; AcuraLink® Satellite Communication System; AcuraLink® Real-time traffic with an all-new Traffic Rerouting™ function; AcuraLink® weather with current and future weather information; a 10-speaker Acura/ELS® Premium Sound System with multi-format 6-disc DVD-Audio changer, AM/FM tuner, XM® Satellite Radio, Note function for XM® Radio, and Dolby Pro Logic II; and a GPS-linked, solar-sensing, dual-zone automatic climate control system.
The Acura/ELS® system, all-new for 2009, is tuned by 6-time Grammy® award winning sound engineer Elliot Scheiner. This 10-speaker Acura/ELS™ Premium Surround Sound System with DVD-Audio (that is 500 times clearer than traditional CD) delivers studio quality sound along with a new Note function for XM® Radio that makes it easy to identify songs to recall at a later date.
Acura offers a full line of technologically advanced performance luxury vehicles through a network of 268 dealers within the United States. The 2008 Acura lineup features five distinctive models including the RL luxury performance sedan, the TL performance luxury sedan, the TSX sports sedan, the turbocharged RDX crossover SUV and the award-winning MDX luxury sport utility vehicle.

One of these days I'm going to break my computer screen punching you Corbic.
...pricing for the 2009 model represents a modest 4.3 percent sales weighted average price increase.
I wish they would just list the price rather than trying to explain to me their reasoning for justifying the increase. I either want it at the price or I don't, saying that they increased it by x% isn't going to make my wallet any bigger or smaller.
What doesn't kill me only postpones the inevitable.
While not a direct comparison, it is still a very accurate comparison. The R32 is just a hopped up Golf, same as the TSX is a hopped up 4-cylinder Accord. Me personally, I'd still rather just buy the V6 Accord and aftermarket shocks if that was the kind of car I wanted. It's not even like the TSX gets appreciably better fuel economy than the V6 Accord, either.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
I'd still rather have a GLI, with it's impressive list of std features and cloth seats. As I recall, the GLI beat out the previous generation TSX in a C&D comparison, in which it was stated that the GLI was more entertaining to drive.

Weird, this article states that the Canadian TSX will be offered with clothing.
A navigation system is optional, and for the first time, a cloth upholstered TSX will be available reducing the vehicle's entry price, which will reside somewhere in the low $30K range. The 2009 TSX is expected in the showroom April 21st.

The GLI is also overpriced and should be $25K tops. The TSX gets to ask for more $$ only because of it's far superior dealer network and quality.
Since I've moved to the states almost 10 years ago I've had a Jetta 1.8T, R32, Mustang GT and now a 6-sp TSX and I can honestly say the Acura is the best because it has all the ingredients of what a great car should be. No, it's not faster than the GT and it doesn't sound as great as the R32 but it moves swiftly on the highway and nimbly in the city, it gets me 30.2 mpg combined, its interior quality and electronics are outstanding and it's R-E-L-I-A-B-L-E. Nuff said!

But the GLI is overpriced right? The TSX is probably ok though.

Back on topic; that is solid pricing on this car and I bet the base model TSX is going to take a big chomp out of IS250 and 328i sales.
Is there any proof that the current and much more attractive TSX is doing that now. I dunno, but I don't see a whole lot of buyers making the rounds at BMW, Lexus, etc and then on a whim deciding to drop by the Acura dealership and actually ending up with the TSX. I could actually see potential buyers of the cars you mentioned looking at the TL before the TSX.
Time will tell I suppose.

The 288 GTO is the best looking thing ever created by humans.

I testdrove Jetta and TSX for 45 miles each. The Jetta was the winner, and there ain't no way you're getting 30+ MPG.
I knew it wouldn't cost $34k. Now all that anyone has to compain about is FWD and the lack of torque.
Given the increase in feature content, the pricing seems spot-on to me. Fully-loaded, it should still be several thousand dollars less than a comparable Frontrak A4 2.0T. I would have like 10-20 more hp/ ft-lb of torque, but I can't argue with much else. I'm still hoping for an S-Type w/ SH-AWD.
personally i wouldnt know, i would imagine your estimate is a good one though. i had an approx guess around 37-38 based on similar sport packages and all wheel drive systems but im unaware of Acura's price listings

well im sure if there was sufficient horsepower/torque gain, with the appropriate transmission and improved body styling they could chalk up an expensive MSRP and not feel guilty about it.
