I've never been of the opinion that the base Lamborghini Gallardo needed more oomph, but I'm obviously in the minority. The coupe's variants — the SE, the Superleggera — have offered additional speed and/or additional lightness, and they have kept the whole Gallardo enterprise fresh for the past five years.
So it should come as no surprise to anyone but me that a new Gallardo variant was needed, this time to replace the base coupe (the Superleggera's gone; the Spyder remains). The newest baby bull is called the LP560-4, and all you really need to know about it is that it has a frickin' Thrust mode. The end.
For those interested in the bothersome details of this $201,000 entry-level Lambo, know that the revitalization efforts extend to pretty much every area of the car. The LP560-4 has a revised body, suspension, engine, brakes, lighting, and transmission. It results in a Gallardo with the same power-to-weight ratio as the Superleggera, a 3.7-second 0-62 time, a top speed of 202 mph, and the kind of power curve to launch a thousand Evel Knievels...
"While on the strip, I saw a woman reach out of her rental Chrysler 300 and drop an overstuffed McDonald's bag right onto the street."
I hate littering. I've been known, when the circumstances are appropriate, to confront folks who toss trash on the street with their own refuse, usually while in a parking lot or at a stoplight. It generally involves me hopping out of the car, grabbing the trash and hurling it back into the offending vehicle (or on the vehicle if the windows are closed. This is especially gratifying when it is a beverage with residual liquid. I usually follow up the exchange with enough rage-filled profanity to encourage the originator not to exacerbate the issue by confronting me on the topic of littering. I'm not proud of my actions but I also do beach clean-ups and other landscape restoration projects so I have a pretty deep well of resentment for fat cougars and others who care more about themselves than our planet.
Reminds me a little of the Honda Civic tv commercial that involves the collection of litter and presentation back to the originator, only in an unhealthy and potentially dangerous manner.
I love the car (how can you not) but there is too much Audi influence. The gauges, navigation, climate control, steering wheel, and key are all from the Audi/VW parts bin. I guess they are higher quality than the original Lambo parts, but they need to have their own distinct look and feel for the price.
I know there's a lot more mechanical influence as well, but it doesn't change the asthetics. I think a Lamborghini should be thoroughly unique.

Meh, this is a car you might actually want to stay in after you're sick of impressing everyone with the noise pedal, and that probably wouldn't be the case if Lamborghini were left to their own devices. Best of both worlds, imo: Lambo looks, engine and mechanics with the germans taking care of the boring parts.
I love this car, and I'd actually have this before I'd have a murcielago. I wouldn't be able to leave either one of them in a public parking lot, but I could at least drive the LP560-4 without feeling like a batman wanna-be (note to self--if ever given a chance to drive an LP640 bring a cape).

On the Lambo-Power boards they posted this video of the event, you can now put some sounds to the story. As you will see in these, they sound brutal as you would expect.
*sigh* Whose great idea was it to put anything but stick-shifts in supercars? I don't give a crap about whatever-millisecond gearshifts. I just want it to be me in complete control of what my car is doing.
2008 Ferrari's you can no longer order a stick shift in the 612 or 599. The new California GT just released yesterday will not offer a manual version either. The F430 may in fact be the last manual version Ferrari ever.
Damn them for building real cars! Srsly, have you ever been closer than 20ft away from a Diablo? From 20ft they are gorgeous, any closer and they look like kit cars that were screwed together by blind retarded monkeys.

Have you ever seen a Gallardo on the road? It looks crazier than your average F car, P car, etc. It looks CRAZY, just like how a supercar should. Not only that it sounds crazy too, even at half throttle. If you want something crazier looking then maybe if you ever buy one you can stick a plastic body kit on and an enormous wing that reaches the skies.
As in the Maranello and 612, while the 599 will be offered with a conventional six-speed manual transmission, Ferrari expects only 10% of customers to choose this. The rest will pay extra for the semi-automatic six speed, now called the F1 Superfast. The paddles are mounted behind the steering wheel and during the day-long test, on and off the Fiorano track, they were a joy to use.
I think the Murcielago is the better-looking of the two, but the Gallardo Spyder I passed by sure was easy on the eyes. I'm sure the price hike won't hinder sales growth.

Not to start a Manny vs. Auto argument, but that just scares the living crap out of me...
Makes me wonder if it's significantly different for Lamborghinis...

Can only be a good thing. We cannot say it looks like ANY Audi inside, even if they use Audi parts.
