Makes me wonder why any informed consumer purchased the G35 when we all knew this was coming.
I purchased a 3rd gen Acura TL knowing the 4th gen is soon to debut. But seeing as how no one knows what it will look like and seeing how other Acura vehicles look lately I think I made a very well informed decision. Besides you know there are always bugs to be worked out in the 1st new model year or years.
Nice-so much for this being a European only model.. I like the addition of the brakes

The current model isn't that much different. This is just new and improved. The current model still moves out pretty good. I'll be curious to see how much quicker this car is in the real world with less torque.

Worthy competitor in its segment . For me, it would be a close call between this and a 335i. MB has to step up the C because "they promised a Mercedes Benze"

But is that still the pictures of the 09 G37? If it is wouldn't that make it a carry over as far as body styles go and only a drivetrain update? Ugh that sort of makes things hard to look at in generations designations.
The G35 started with one body. Changed the body but kept the same engine. Now they are changing the engine but keeping the same body.

If it has the same specs as the G37 coupe, it will have 24 more HP and 2 more LB.FT of torque than the current car. The sedan also weighs 200 lbs. less than the coupe, so it should be quicker. Also, the new 7-speed auto should help out.
Nice. I imagine its cheaper for Infiniti to make the NA and EU models as similar as possible increase the economies of scale. I still think its weird that EU is getting the FX37 and NA the FX35. Maybe Infiniti didn't want to bother to certify the 3.5L in EU?

That and I am thinking it may have had to do with the coarseness of the 3.5 engine and the demographics of the buyers in EU. So it probably made better sense to have the 3.7 as the only engine for that market.
Or maybe they just saw fit to give the US the left over 3.5 engines.
Looks the same as it has looked since the 2007 model year.
Hrm, guess I missed it. I couldn't stand how the old ones looked, with the tacky chrome window surrounds, unsexy lines, and general poor flow compared to the coupe.

I wonder how much it will weigh? THe G37 coupe model is heavier than the G35 sedan partly due to the extra weight of the 3.7L engine and slightly bigger brake disc.

I don't think a lot of people would have cared one way or another over 3.5L vs 3.7L
To the majority of customers, the car is fast enough for them.
I think the biggest change that makes it worth it to wait for the 2009 is the 7 speed auto. The current 5 speed auto is way long overdue. The new engine won't probably make much of a difference and I might prefer the 3.5 over the 3.7 engine due the the extra complexity of the 3.7 and less low end torque.

Looks like a good update to me. I also like the fact you can get a handbrake with the manual. Lets hope pricing holds.
Handbrake is always standard on 6MT model so I don't know what you meant.

I have read the new 7 speed auto has gearing nearly identical to the 5 speed so MPG won't increase much.
Based on Mototrend recent test of the 7AT FX35, rpm is at 1960@60mph. Simple calculation gives me around 2600rpm at 80mph. The currently 5AT is around 3300rpm at 80mph.
You're probably still trying to figure out how to turn off traction control on the IS350

I didn't mean anything. I am saying I like the handbrake. You do realize 2007+ Lexus models have a button that disables VDIM.
Good improvement for highway driving, that is a noticeable difference.

I doubt that's true. You cannot compare the gearing ration of each gear between 2 transmission to compare which transmission has deeper/higher gearing. The 3.7L is more fuel efficient than the 3.5L already. Coupled with the new transmission fuel efficiency hopefully will improve.
Who supplies transmissions to Acura? Jatco announced the 7-speed transmission last year so it is not surprised that its making its way into Nissans and Infinitis. It would look ridiculous if the new TL still has the 5 speed transmission.

Nice upgrade, although pretty much expected. If, judging by the pics, we assume the U.S. G37 will look the same as the European G37, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. The interior isn't bad, but I was hoping they'd freshen it up a bit more and make it closer to the EX/FX. I mean, the new Maxima has a nicer interior.
Still, I can't wait to see how this new powertrain stacks up to the 335i.
