As weird as this may sound, it seems Porsche is working on a Porsche badged Volkswagen Golf for 2012. Now, we know that the Volkswagen Golf is a huge success, but a Porsche version of the car seems like a totally absurd idea; unless of course Porsche is postioning itself to become more mainstream and compete with BMW.
The picture below is on the cover of the new AutoBild magazine. The caption next to it read (in German) ”kompakte geheim-projekte bis 2012. der porsche-golf.” That translates to “compact secret projects until 2012. the Porsche-Golf.”
Knowing him it's prolly some VWMS part that doesn't exsist any more. You can't get it. And just feel lucky you even saw it. -Cabe07 Ah VTEC. All the lag, none of the turbo. It's like waiting for bad sex.

1. First off, you drive a Fit....you opinion on anything car related now does not count.
if it happens it would be interesting to see where they position it in terms of the the GTi/S3 at that point in time and what is happening with the 1 series.
Better than VW's abortionistic attempt at a Scirocco. I don't mind it because it's not got any 'Scirocco' DNA...(or lack of it.)
So, if published reports of the New VW XXXXXXXX at $40,000 USD are true....this may be the worlds most expensive hatchback.

The feeling of immortality extends right up to the moment of impact. Every 10% weight reduction equates to 7% fuel mileage gain. Priuses are ECONOMY cars for people who can't add.....
Life is bland enough for Toyota owners, they need some excitement. Nothin says wake the f**k up like riding a runaway washing machine at 100mph down the freeway

Might bring base Golfs/GTIs down to a more reasonable price. Didn't the original mkI GTI cost something like $15,000 new in the 1970's? Nowadays, your lucky to get a base model Golf for that price.
You can't be serious...remember the 914 won it's class at LeMans (beating the 911s I might add) and finished 6th overall (only behind 2 917s, a 908 and 2 Ferrari 512s).
Unless you meant that they shouldn't go any lower than offering a 914-like car (aka Boxster).

The Cayman/Boxster are as cheap as Porsche's should evAr get. They need to keep the brand lust-worthy and not so easily attainable, it's what makes a Porsche a Porsche.
