This Cadillac has a five-point harness. Its hand-stitched leather dash has a bunch of non-production toggles and buttons for stuff like the fire extinguisher. Also odd is that there's a guy in the driver's seat wearing a helmet. This would be John Heinricy, the man who has taken many a GM car to its limit on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and who has pushed this very Cadillac CTS-V to a time of 7:59:32 on that 13.9-mile track. Today, the venue is a bit less auspicious but no less important: Heinricy is about to demonstrate the CTS-V on a couple of hot laps around GM's newest test track at its Milford Proving Ground. This handling loop was built four years ago at the behest of one Robert A. Lutz, and it is a tangle of some seriously demanding turns, many of them inspired by that little country circuit in Germany. As with the Nürburgring, there is a Karussell and a downhill double-right-hander like Pflanzgarten. Hence, the place's nickname: The Lutzring. It's a wonder that a company as large and as powerful as GM hasn't had something like this until now, but it also explains why, until quite recently, so many of GM's cars handled like drunken rhinos...
Still don't like the exterior styling changes, but, must have. Must have now.

I would like to see magazines back up those figures. I remember that did not happen with the last CTS-V.
The price to performance ratio (for a sedan) is likely very good. From the reported quarter mile time, it's about GT-R level quick.

This place is is insane - the biggest complaint I hear in the Car Lounge is that VW's are too expensive when loaded up with options and yet when they want to decontent and lower the price, the complaints get even louder. You can't have it both ways.

Agreed.. The stock one looks way more agressive and modern... But Id be more than happy to swap the front bumper somehow and drive it.... Or just drive it anyway.

-Lounge's most timid driver: 2008-2009 I dont even drive anymore. I sneak around on my MTB.
i saw a bright red 2008 cts in seattle and they have serious road presence. the cts-v will really build on that. i'm excited for the coupe though

For the most part. If memory serves, it's also the cucumber capital of Japan. Hence the home-market ads for the FT-86 featuring Takeichi-kun, the cartoon cucumber whose meteoric rise through the underground drift world has shamed him in the eyes of his school-master.
Well, they're not exactly building it for you. They're building it for their customer base, who all wanted a little more height and a little more rear seat room. They're not buying the ***** so that people who have no intention of actually buying one can approve of them while rolling by in their VW's
No kidding! I was expecting it to hit close to $70k. That's incredible performance for the price. I love the RS4, but were I cross shopping in that rich-guys only segment, I would have to take a serious look at the V.

What is up with the pictures overlapping the text in all of the Motive articles lately? I use IE7 on my work machine, and wherever there is a text wrap around a side image, the last word of most of the sentences is covered.

It happens in IE6 as well. It's been bugging me for months.
I blame Apple.

Upgrade to a proper browser (Safari or Firefox) and you won't have those problems. IE7 is lousy.
...It's odd you mention this because I was just noticing how nice the design of the articles was. I was impressed by the word-image wrap and how it stayed intcat even when I increased or decreased the fonts size...but I use Safari
Is it me, or is the new motive word-wrap around pictures cutting off parts of the text??? I've noticed it for the past week or so . ..
saw above . . . WTH can't u guys format it properly for the browser that has 90% market share . . . its annoying.

We haven't changed anything and as such aren't sure why this is a new problem. . . our tech guy was out doing tech-y things this morning but is now back and working on a fix. Thanks for letting us know about the problem. . . I guess that's what we get for being a Mac office.

as for the Boster, HELL NO, i chose a volvo s60 over a boxter (when i had to chose between the two as a daily car) cuz honestly i don't consider the boxter to be a porsh (to me it's ugly and very slow, it's just for the name people buy it. )

Its not really a new problem, I've seen it in many previous articles. I thought it was something wonky in my computer, but seeing the number of agreeing responses, I would assume thats not the case.

sorry for that, I thot everybody was suggesting Firefox as a solution . . .
Anyways, this is what I see . . .
Yeah... I have firefox at home and it does the same thing. It's not a browser issue. It's a code issue (or aka, smug Mac users/web developers forgetting they are a minority )
I hate this car because I want one so bad. Even if I could afford a $60K car, I know if I bought one it would lead to a divorce and then I would probably have to live in it

It's probably a compliance issue (aka, IE sucks at compliance ). Renders fine in Win32 Opera.
Meanwhile, I'm saving my pennies for a CTS-V coupe.
Now why can't the Corvette have those awesome looking seats in it.
Caddy has an absolute knock out on their hands. Mike
"Ferraris are serious cars for serious people who drive around wearing a serious expression. The Gallardo can do serious, too. It has Audi electrics and Audi engineering. But as you careen towards the next bend on a wave of extraordinary sound, half blinded by your own upholstery, you’ll be making the noise of a howler monkey and wishing you were naked" The one and only Jeremy Clarkson
In all seriousness, good for Caddy and The General. They need to hit more home runs like this.
The front bumper looks like it came out of an Uncle Ben's box, however. It's out of character with this specific vehicle, and this class of vehicle in general.
