Since 2005 the high performance RS version of the TT has been caught numerous times testing uncovered in both coupe and roadster trim. Then earlier this year, Audi debuted the performance minded TT-S in Detroit and most recently, Audi has taunted us with a near production version of the TT Clubsport Concept.
These latest images show a TT-S body, but like a bluffing poker player, there's always a "tell". Characteristic of the exclusive high-performance Audi RS range, this Audi TT prominently displays its wide oval tailpipes, which imprecisely fit the dual exhaust pipe slots of the TT-S rear bumper in addition to RS wheels and covered up RS brake calipers.
However, the "one RS model at a time" policy that RS series producing subsidiary, Quattro GmbH, self imposes will finally be broken as the TT-RS and RS5 production schedules overlap. Previously reported in 2007 and then corroborated by the leaked 2012 Audi Rollout Schedule document, the TT-RS hits the market in August 2009 while the RS5 arrives in July 2010 according to the leaked Audi 2010 Engine Product Offensive.
Although it is widely believed the TT-RS will receive a 350hp 2.5-liter turbo inline 5-cylinder, speculation also puts a turbocharged version of Volkswagen's 3.6-liter 280bhp V6 from the Passat as a possible candidate as well.
Hopefully, the TT-RS will finally show up in Paris this October.
I really hope Audi equips the TT-RS with a manual. Rumors stating that the RS5 will be S-Tronic only have me worried though.

Joe Rogan on Kellogg's dropping Michael Phelps:I mean, do you guys ever think about what you sell? Pop tarts? Are you kidding me? I would be willing to bet that 50% of the people buying pop tarts are stoned out of their ****ing minds ... There’s nothing quite like being stoned out of your mind at 2am watching a Chuck Norris movie and eating a bowl of fruit loops.
dude shouldn't have been walking on the highway, but he shouldn't have been hit by 20 cars...that's a lot. I mean, I try to avoid dead squirrels in the road, never mind dead people.
In all fairness, if this was posted in the MKIII/MKIV/MKV Forums, you'd probably get a much better reception. If the cover photo was dripping with HDR, you could probably hear the man-goo smacking their monitors.
This place is is insane - the biggest complaint I hear in the Car Lounge is that VW's are too expensive when loaded up with options and yet when they want to decontent and lower the price, the complaints get even louder. You can't have it both ways.
Initial reports peg the base price around 75-80k for the TT-RS. The TT-S coupe is to start around 50k, and given the prices of other Audi -RS cars, I believe it.

What!? a thread without a comment from sickwrathterrorboomshakalakabingbadaboom??? Unbelievable!

This is a head scratcher to me. The TT rides on the A5 platform, yet claim they couldn't fit the 3.6 in the A body for the new R32. Now they can fit it, and a turbo setup in the TT with essentially the same underpinnings? Did I miss something?

Initial reports from who? Most car mags are saying $70k for the TTS for some stupid reason. Oh wait - their doing a direct Euro conversion. In fact the TTS will most likely base at a $3k premium over the existing V6 - and have more standard equipment.
If the TT-R comes to the US (it is planned right now for US sales - but with the shrinking dollar might get shot down in the end) it will most likely base between $59-62k depending on the level of standard equipment. Still a hefty amount for an Audi TT.
I don't know where the heck they got the information about a turbo VR6 - thats never been mentioned before and I doubt holds any validity. The Inline 5 turbo is what is being developed right now.

It won't fit in a Golf/Jetta MKV - but it will fit in the TT. The fit in the Golf/Jetta was limited by the location of the radiator support - not a problem in the TT.

Road & Track initially estimated the TT-S at 62k, but their most recent update showed "just under 50k".
Top Speed estimated at 75k for the TT-RS, and I could've sworn I read 80k somewhere else.
But it wouldn't surprise me considering the RS4 is over 80k. A reasonable assumption, I think.
Based upon sources from the "inside" - Audi would not sell the TT-Rin the US if the business case wouldn't justify selling it for $60k and change. If the price exceeds that figure in the US - it simply won't be sold here. Just like how the RS6 Avant isn't sold here........

I love the idea of another turbo I5, especially one as powerful as this is supposed to be. If, as rumoured, they make an A3 sedan and coupé with the next generation, they could make a real successor to the Ur quattro, especially if they gave it an Allrad package. They could even use it in rallying.
I love the TT for how it looks, but it is so lacking in practicality that I could never justify owning one. I'd like to see an RS3 3-door or an RS3 coupé with an Ur/Corrado-like roofline and conventional boot.

Well, it's still got its work cut out for it considering the Z4M is $50k.
