Well, supposedly. I think it's kind of...awkward, like a Hyundai Sonata in puberty. Engine choices are reportedly a 1.6 112 ps and 1.8 140 ps gas engines and a 2.0 150 ps diesel.
Can't we combine the interior of the Cruze with the exterior of the Kia Forte?
and that's all that matters. If he had a magic genie in a box and said wa da ya think and the genie said tranny crapped out bam its been seen 89 dollar to zobra the great.
I fully expected to like this thing once the camo came off, but I really don't for some reason. It's a shame really, GM needs a steller small car right now. Maybe it's driving dynamics and pleasant interior will make up for it's awkward exterior.
I'm not crazy about the headlights, but the overall package is a thousand times better looking than the Cobalt.
Yeah.
I'm not big on Chevrolet's "LOOK AT MAH GRILL MOTHERF'ER" look on cars like this, the Malibu, the Traverse, and the facelift Aveo... but it beats just looking like a slab-sided copy of an anonymous mid-'90s Japanese car. It's got some creases and "surface excitement." It's polarizing but that's not always a bad thing.

I like it - I think it holds the family line, and has a little "art and science" in it as well.
Have to see it in person - the new Malibu looks better in pics then in person (it does look pretty nice in person, tho). Maybe this one'll be the opposite.

I agree about the headlights, but that wouldn't keep me from owning it. A lack of a hatch might, but it looks pretty good. I'd certainly test drive it and if it's as good as they say, it could make the top of the list!

thumbs down (to wooden steering wheels) unless its a car that you drive while wearing a leather helmet + goggles while yelling "tally ho, chocks away!"

A restoration to me is some sort of exorcism/brainwash for a car. /rant.
Good looking car. I really like the sweeping line that curves up from the foglights into the fender/hood split line. It has expensive looking surface treatments, and carries on the Chevy look without being a "Mini Me" Malibu. Good job Chevy!

There are plenty of existing technologies that produce emissions free electricity. There isn't one single technology in the world that produces emissions free gasoline.
It's a shame GM severed the relation with Toyota when they owned the GEO division. Today GM would have Scion based entry level car.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"
Is this the Cobalt replacement, or just another euro GM product never to see our shores.
It replaces both the US-spec Cobalt and the ROW Lacetti (sold here as the Suzuki Forenza). Suzuki will be dropping the Forenza/Reno entirely from the US lineup now that they have the SX4 sedan.
The platform (Delta II) will be used for the next Astra, too, but it'll have recognizably Opel styling rather than Chevy styling, hatchback body, etc. just like the current Astra.
It's all a part of GM rationalizing its divergent small-car platforms and bringing GM-DAT (formerly Daewoo) fully into the fold.

The grill is a little on the large side but otherwise I think it's a decent looking small car. Mike

I think just about anyone would say the Kia looks better, though at this stage in the game a lot of that is just coming from the Kia looking more conservative. But I do think it's a better design regardless. I don't like the little filler panel on the C-pillar (and I don't like the same detail on the Rio and Sonata). The mismatching of grille meshes on the fascia bothers me... you've got fine black mesh on the big grille, then body-color egg crate on the bottom, then black egg-crate on the fog light grilles. It's nitpicky, but there just aren't any out-of-place details like that on the Forte.

if it drives as good as the new malibu, they might have a winner. i think it's kinda cool looking. the rear tails bother me a little, but otherwise its not bad. it's a definite improvement over the cobalt. furthermore, with a 1.6L motor and a 5 speed this car should get killer gas mileage... which as much as we hate to admit is really what is driving car sales now.

If you buy the S2k, TCL will crown you emporer and sacrefice GTi in your name against crubs and bricks.
Too many character lines meeting at the C-pillar. Aside from that, it is a decent looking design, and it is interesting. I don't think it will age well though.
I'm probably one of the few out there that would rather have a Cobalt SS Turbo sedan.
Past/Current: Buick, Mitsubishi, Geo, Chrysler, Dodge, Porsche, Land Rover, VW, Nissan, Cadillac, Ford Future: VW T3, Mk1 Scirocco, Audi TT, 240Z, Lancer Evo VIII RS, Lancia Delta Integrale Evo II, AMG R63, Hudson Hornet, Porsche 964, Mini Cooper, Caterham SV, AMG CLS63, Miura SV
I don't hate it by any means--I said there's some awkward angles, but that doesn't imply hate. I'm just not a fan of the clamshell hood, oversized grille and headlights, or that large black plastic triangle on the C-pillar. I think the Kia is cleaner.
And as I also stated, from what I've seen of the interiors, I think the Chevy is nicer inside.
