There are lies, there are damnable lies, and then there's reporting on the domestic auto industry. Consider this statement: Detroit doesn't build the cars that people want. Despite the fact that the Detroit carmakers build half the cars and trucks sold in the U.S. each year, you can't escape that quip. It's required in every story concerning the Detroit Three bailout. It's even hard-coded into the business plans that the automakers submitted to Congress.
This is nothing new. News outlets have been banging that counterfactual drum since New York Times columnist Micheline Maynard published her 2003 book The End of Detroit. There are a lot of things that can be learned from that work. The first is that it's indeed possible to give a big, sloppy tongue kiss to Japan, Inc., via print. The second is that understanding the auto industry isn't considered a prerequisite to report on it. (This also forms the basis of "The Friedman Principle.") The third is that The End of Detroit makes a really excellent wheel chock to hold the new 2010 Mustang back while doing a wicked burnout.
A combination of a CCX and 9-3 AeroX combi would possibly be the most evil looking car the world has ever seen, and I am rock hard writing this sentance.
I think it's a great value, I'd consider it. That said, my time horizon has me waiting until the 5.0/400HP version comes out - would love to compare that back to back with an SS Camaro. Looks wise inside and out, though, I very much prefer the Mustang.
It looks great, but the lack of new powertrains to go along with it is disappointing. Yes, I know they're coming. I like instant gratification.
New powertrains will arrive next year, but this is NOT merely a styling change. V6 models get the GT suspension from last year, GT models get the Bullitt suspension, and witht he Track Pack, gets the GT500 suspension, 3.70 gears, summer tires a strut tower brace and better brakes.
Unlike the 370z, the new stang looks better (on paper) than it's predecessor, IMO. Looks like the new GT suspension will have a bit better body movement control than the previous one as well. Looking forward to reading some reviews.

"What you are, is by accident of birth. What I am, I created myself. There are, and have been, thousands of princes; there is only one Beethoven." -- Beethoven
The styling refresh gives the car much more personality than the outgoing model, which seemed rather bland. I actually LIKE how it looks, and I look forward to driving one.
From what I have heard thru my grapevine, the suspension tuning was much more than just a trickle-down from the previous versions. "Completely retuned" was one of the many phrases that I heard regarding the GT.

Now those are hand-me-downs that Ford can be proud of. This car is a step in the right direction.
if this doesnt save ford, nothing will.. everything is good for me. is good

as for the Boster, HELL NO, i chose a volvo s60 over a boxter (when i had to chose between the two as a daily car) cuz honestly i don't consider the boxter to be a porsh (to me it's ugly and very slow, it's just for the name people buy it. )

One thing that I think goes under the radar is the value of the car. 315HP from 87 octane regular gas. A formerly optional suspension now stock, and a comprehensive (brake pads, strut bar, antiroll bars, final drive, control arms, springs) track worthy one for only $1400 w/ warranty.
Yes, 315HP fro 4.6l isn't amazing, but it's on regular gas and probably will respond well to bolt ons and tuning. Yes, a solid rear end isn't exciting to anyone but drag racers, but Ford lets you dress it up for track duty pretty cheap. The interior isn't an Audi, but from the looks of it the control ergonomics seem fine and it includes a full set of gauges that most cars omit. A 5-speed isn't that sexy in the day and age of 6-speeds and DSGs, but with a big V8 it probably is a sufficient match.
So, when considering the faults/limitations, also consider the price. GT w/ track package is under $30k. That's not an unreasonable MSRP.
Love the rear and interior. Wish it came with the upcoming more powerful V8, that would have been icing on the cake
