 Saab 9-3X caught undisguised« »

The 9-3X will be officially unveiled at Geneva. XWD will only be available on 2.0T models because of packaging issues with the diesel. Whether the 9-3X will have optional eLSD has not yet been revealed.

Why not? The current one doesn't make any sense either.

I like these all roady things. In areas with appreciable snowfall, unimproved roads, and drive on sandy beaches these things rule.

Yes Martha, you can get your new 2010 Toyota 4Runner with a 4-cylinder. As long as it's 2WD. And as long as it's with an old 4-speed automatic.

What he said. I'll be looking at this genre for my soon-to-be-wife when she gets good and tired of her Civic.

Well for one thing, there weren't really frosted tail lamps in the 1980s. For another, clear tails has been a pretty strong movement over the last couple years on the OEM line. I actually noticed this on my drive in today, there were a lot of newer cars with that look. Saab 9-3 just has the best of them right now (IMO ).

The 9-3X looks odd. I'm so used to seeing the 9-3s low, even for OEM, so it looks a little odd. But definitely a good plan in the right areas.

The article doesn't really tell us much about anything, but they think that particular car has the 2.0T with XWD configuration. There's speculation about wether it will be equipped with eLSD or not, and if it will come with a diesel engine and XWD. Currently there are no 9-3s with that combination, and it's rumored that it's because there isn't enough room - but maybe the car being raised 30mm will take care of that. Or maybe there will be a FWD version of the 9-3X? Either way, the diesels will be crucial for its success in the rest of Europe.

P.S. I'm surprised nobody commented on the licenseplate...!

They will come with either Gasoline engines w/ XWD or Diesel FWD. The reason for FWD only diesel is because the modifications cost too much, even though the diesel engines would now fit with the extra ride height.

What this guy said. Even somebody who's never banged around on long, windy back roads and fire trails in big-sky country can surely wrap their minds around the appeal of a vehicle like this....

Maybe the fact that they created the Lexus light trend.

Cheap way to extend the model range, but jeez...hello, Saab, and welcome to 1996 (or 1998 if you want to compare them to their cross-country rival, Volvo).
