Obviously not carnage, minor damage and luckily everyone was ok. No mechanical damage but it really sucks when you work so hard to keep the car looking good and then something like this happens. Other driver was in a early 90's Maxima, took the on-ramp a little too fast and slid into me. Bodyshop wanted to replace the rear door but damn insurance can't find a replacement RS4 rear door from a donor car and therefore told the bodyshop to just repair it. They said they could repair it for less than a new rear door shell, which is about $500. After a lot of hassle and fighting with insurance, looks like they are going to repair it. I have been keeping a close eye on the work and here are some progress pics. Also, i had the clearbra on the front fender, which now needs to be replaced so they can blend and match the paint.
what he said. That really sucks. I hope everything comes out looking better then before. Good luck. People suck sometimes don't they.

I would have told the insurance company to stuff it and order the new door shell.
Or else you'll do what exactly?

Stop right there. Rigor? What, are you some sort of amateur? By the time rigor sets, you and your car need to be 2 states away. You always, always need plausible deniability. A stiff hooker is hard to explain, let alone 21.3. I'm all for a night of fun, but don't carry your souvenirs around until they are stiff.
PinkSockDubz #1 The Minivan I only replied twice, now three times, to this thread because I have a chronic disease called PWS (postwhoresyndrome) which causes me to post many times per day, It's at the point where I can't even control myself anymore, any computer I'm near I steal so I can post in TCL
Seems like both of them were on an on ramp and he was in the outside lane and the guy drifted into him.
That is correct. On ramp was two lanes and then merged into one. I was definitely in front of him when it merged, based on the fact that my damage is on the rear side of my car and his was on the front left corner of his.
Are the repairs at least being done at a body shop with a reputation for quality metal work? If I were looking for repairs on a high dollar car like an RS4, I wouldn't want just any grease monkey bashing away on it.
Hope the bodywork and paint matching come out great for you.

I haven't been initiated into the Cult of the Trucker. Can you expound on your statement? If their current orientation means I'm looking for lot lizards at truck stops, I'll flip them. Or maybe not.
the insurance company isnt going to be happy when you decide the repair work isnt up to your standards and they have to repair it again, in which case they should have just bought you a replacement door! oh well, i hope everything turns out okay
bad drivers suck big time, i see them everyday here in shanghai as well

I would pay the extra $500 out of pocket to get it fixed with new factory parts rather than have someone try and fix it because my insurance company was too cheap.
It also helps when you have friends who work at the dealership parts department who give discounts to Audi / VW club members.

I ready to cry for you. I dread the day this happens to my car, I hope if I do get put in that situatuion I can keep calm. Hope all the work turns out well.

What the hell? That's $500 to repair on an RS4 but the girl who dragged her front bumper against my rear wheel arch on Sunday and just needs a sanding and respray on my Honda is going to cost my insurance company $1200?

He said a new door shell is $500, I'm sure the total for the repairs is much more than that.

I plan to make a big stink about it not being to my satisfaction no matter what. We'll see what happens. The bodyshop is not some insurance recommended place but a very high end bodyshop that is a certified Ferrari and Maserati bodyshop. My car was definitely the least expensive car in there. I'm also having my attorney give the field inspector a call Monday morning.
