As topic states, we've got ourselves another SAAB.
This time, it's a 1997 9000 2.3t Anniversary model in Scarabe Green (very close to British Racing Green). Pretty good condition and I personally know people, who serviced the car for past 8 years or so, which IMO is a big bonus. There are few minor scratches typical for a 12yo car, but nothing major. Everything works, even climate control. Seats I think are even more comfortable than on our old 9-5. Handling is a typical SAAB, and there's plenty of power.
It's got 167,000 kms on the ODO, which is a bit low for a Saab.
I managed to knock 1 grand off asking price, which ended up being AUD 5900 (roughly US$5400). All in all, I am fairly happy with the purchase and hopefully, we won't be in a need of another car for quite some time.
I'll take few pics tomorrow.

All fellow members of the Roman senate hear me. Shall we continue to build palace after palace for the rich? Or shall we aspire to a more noble purpose and build decent housing for the poor? How does the senate vote?
So are you just reserving the thread title for tomorrow?
Yeah just in case. You know how popular those cars are, someone might just snatch it!

I'm guessing leather interior with the little airplane on each seat?
Yup. They are hardly visible though, as the seats are tan leather. I need to do a proper clean/conditioning of those seats as they are a bit cracked and dirty.
Also love that leather/wood steering wheel.

I once considered purchase of a Scandinavian automobile. Countless nights were spent in my twin sized bed making a pros and cons list. This is what I came up with..
Pro : Con
- Five wheel drive : Only two of those five wheels actually drive
- Ikea like interior : Particleboard interior that I have assemble
- Built in vodka distillery : I don't even like vodka
- People of high caliber drive these cars : My second grade teacher drove one
- Saab and Volvo : Scab and Vulva?
- Has a reverse gear : Built overseas, they ONLY drive in reverse
- Comfortable interior : Not comfortable enough to make me want to live there
- Sunroof : Afraid of sun
As shown, the cons completely outweigh the pros list. The only way somebody would buy a Saab or a Vulva is if they're fans of contemporary furniture, if you like blueberry vodka, hold your grade teacher highly, are really God damn good at driving in reverse, like living in cars and lastly, if you're not afraid of the sun.
Otherwise I see no real reason to buy one of these... Why not just rent a studio apartment in Council Bluffs, Nebraska? At least then you'd have five wheel drive!

OH LORD that's hilarious
I had someone come into one of my classes to do a presentation who was some switzerland, I tried so hard not to laugh at his accent (I had just watched the "american play" SNL skit)

Why do people do this? Why not do the thread with pictures in the beginning?
How else do you think I could've rocked up almost 20,000 posts ?

I've not seen those wheels on a US market SAAB before.
that's because it isn't US market

bah dont make fun of the vulvas. they are easily modifyable and can make great power.
the earlier volvos were ALL RWD. most came with turbos. styling was a bit off for some people hence the nickname "bricks". swedish tuner "maptun" has made great products to propel the saab brand cars down the road with varying rates of acceleration as well.
to each their own, but i've always wanted a free saab 9-3 viggen. or a free volvo 850R with a 5 speed manual.
i like being different from the norm though, sometimes in order to do that you gotta pick a platform that isnt too often modified.
ASE-certified Master Tech. Helping fix the world's worst pieces of crap! Looking for an Innovate Wideband setup
which is interesting, because I bet somewhere in Australia someone does drink horse piss.

Those came on "Anniversary" models in 1997. I think they were sold on US, but in very limited numbers.
