Buick's "Baby LaCrosse" looks to be taking shape, and is far from just being an Astra or a Cruze with a Buick grille.

There are plenty of existing technologies that produce emissions free electricity. There isn't one single technology in the world that produces emissions free gasoline.
The greenhouse makes it look surprisingly big and I'm glad to see it has a proper window near the c-pillar, instead of a black trim piece like the Cruze parked next to it. Lastly, ditch the wing spoiler for a more subtle lip spoiler.
Then again, maybe the spoiler is just there to throw people off. No one is going to think Buick when they see a small(ish) car with a spoiler.

The correlation between current/former Volkswagen ownership and being an impolite douche-canoe is in the mild-positive range.

Hi, welcome to The Car Lounge. We all hate each other and argue about stuff. It's awesome.
I still wonder how the pricing is going to play out with the LaCrosse/Regal/"Skylark" combo. I can't see this starting under $20k from a "luxury brand" standpoint. Its gonna be crammed in the $20k segment for Buick, but I guess the Lucerne will be dead and gone by the time this comes out, allowing for the LaCrosse to move up a little.
Remember when that generation of Accord debuted everyone accused it of stealing Saturn taillights (LR1 IIRC)? So even if they do bear a resemblence to the Accord, GM is stealing back Saturn design cues for a Saturn, I mean Buick.

The way I see it, I think it will be priced similarly to a GTI, except with less sport and more luxury. That's actually a very empty segment ... a premium non-sporty compact. The closest cars to that idea are maybe a Prius, TSX, or S40.
If it goes that way, its pretty innovative.
Edit: oh, and the LaCrosse is not staying at its current price. It will move up by about $5k in the next 5 years. See CTS for example.
I think the VW Jetta also falls into the "premium non-sporty compact" category, in its regular trim levels. This Buick might be GM's first real competitor to the Jetta (at least until the Jetta grows in its next iteration).

It looks like Buick really is shaping up to have a very Volvo-esque lineup structure-wise, but instead of having a vague mission like Volvo's "we used to be a lot safer than everything else but now we kinda don't know what we stand for" Buick will go directly for affordible luxury. It makes so much sense I'm almost shocked any car company would do something so obvious! Who would have thought will all the failed 'tweener brands of the last decade that GM would be the one closest to pulling off a good one.
