Necessary: Manual Tranny No FWD Doesnt matter how many cyl.. but needs to be fairly quick (0-60 in 7.5 or below) Gas mileage not an issue Apropriate for light track or autocross duty Not so heavy
Not necessary but will consider: 2 seater Convertible AWD
Im thinking used 350z but its not my first choice..
We know you have many choices when it comes to which online forum you like to be made fun of by for your asinine threads. That is why we here at The Car Lounge choose to make fun of you in ways others can't.
i can really only think of two cars that truly meet this criteria- WRX and mustang GT. at your price point i wouldn't want a 350Z. most other options are either FWD or not particularly quick/trackable.
Concentrated power is not rendered harmless by the good intentions of those who create it.
RX-8s can be found for that price, and it meets all of your criteria. There's still a warranty on them too, Mazda has extended their powertrain warranty to 100,000miles or 8 years.
No Mustang GT ever had an IRS, not even now. But it doesn't really hurt them all that much. They can handle fairly decently out of the box, and suspension for them is not expensive. But for $15k, you can get a 99-01 Cobra, which DOES have IRS, and has the better 4V DOHC motor. Or a 2003 Mach 1. An '03 Mach 1 with an 03-04 Cobra blower setup with over 450rwhp usually doesn't sell for much more than $15k.

Or just get a Mustang GT and swap IRS in for free (as most Cobra owners are hicks and want SRA to drag with).
2008 Silver Honda Element SC Priors: 350Z Track, Six Mustangs, Six VWs, Bagged/Shaved Ranger

Trust me... the cost savings of buying a Mustang GT over a Mach or a Cobra do not make up for the inadequacies of the 2V 4.6 liter motor. They're simply so slow they aren't fun anymore.
PinkSockDubz #1 The Minivan I only replied twice, now three times, to this thread because I have a chronic disease called PWS (postwhoresyndrome) which causes me to post many times per day, It's at the point where I can't even control myself anymore, any computer I'm near I steal so I can post in TCL

Wow. 2005 or newer and 13k max really limits you. You definitely can't get a 350z.
Dodge Charger? Miata?
Whatever. My friend in AZ just got an 04 with cloth guts and 60k for $11,500. A far cry from the $24,500 I paid for my 2004 Touring in 05' with only 11,000 miles. I say he got the better deal.
