 Underwater Vehicle Wrecks« »

I've always been fascinated by underwater wrecks, even more so by sunken vehicles, especially of WWII era as found in abundance around the Pacific islands area.

Thought I'd share some.

Best regards,

PITUSA

This is actually a NYC transit subway car. How interesting!

This T34 Tank was found in almost mint condition (They were even able to start it after some cleaning) after it was accidentally driven into a freshwater pond 62 years ago.

The Germans would use them to sneak into Russian tank convoys then open fire from behind.

The T34 was the first mass produced tank to use sloped armor. Very lightweight but armor was still adequate.

Yes, but more often "ze german" went "green" and just repainted and reused them. Sneak attack or not.

Im too much of a panzer fanboy to like any russian armor, no matter how good it was

Minus that silly language they're speaking, that's an awesome thread.

Pic of the van after they cleaned it up. Whether they got it driving or not is another question. if they did, wow.

I agree, and the first post I can remember was someone commenting on his choice of user name, his response being "shut your whore mouths while miley cyrus' new song is at the top of the charts" or something to that effect.

After the tank surfaced, it turned out to be a ‘trophy’ tank, that had been captured by the German army in the course of the battle at Sinimaed (Blue Hills) about six weeks before it was sunk in the lake. Altogether, 116 shells were found on board. Remarkably, the tank was in good condition, with no rust, and all systems (except the engine) in working condition.... After a small repair and service they were able to start it’s diesel engine.

65 Years at the bottom of a lake and the thing still runs. That Russian tank is built like a...built like a umm...Russian Tank!

I dont know if a 4.0 Jeep could do that.

This thread is already probably my favorite thread of the last few months. I LOVE this sort of thing.

Sorta, kinda related.....I was watching a program last night in which they were discovering all of these underground tunnels in Berlin.....used for bomb shelters in WWII.....it was awesome.

Your statement is true. As Lenin said, "there's a quality to quantity"
So at the end of the day, the super duper hi-tech King Tiger, can be killed by stone-age like tech if theres enough (T34s) to overwhelmin the King tiger.
